The Five Worst Premier League Signings

Some signings can work wonders for your team.  It could be that lethal goal scorer, lockdown defender, or elite midfielder that puts your club over the top.  Other signings have proved dreadful for Premier League teams.  Here are the five worst signings in Premier League history.

5) Savio Nsereko – West Ham signed the Ugandan forward for a reported £9 million in 2009.  Without much success in the past it was considered a questionable signing at the time.  Those questions were proved valid.  He just started one game for West Ham that year and appeared in 9 more.  He did not score a single goal.

4) Konstantinos Mitroglou – In 2014, Fulham was in danger of relegation and they were desperate for a spark.  They chose to sign Mitroglou for £13 million.  This was the wrong move.  He played just three games for the club and their nightmare came true when they were relegated that season.

3) Bebe – Sir Alex Ferguson signed Bebe after admitting to never seeing him play live.  After signing him to £7.4 million, people quickly realized he was not Premier League material and will be considered one of the worst signings in Manchester United History.

2) Afonso Alves – His ridiculous goal to game ratio (45:39) made Alves one of the most desired players in the world.  Middlesbrough signed him for £13 million and his ratio dropped to (10:42).  Needless to say fans were not pleased.

1) Fernando Torres – He was an absolute stud for Liverpool which led to a whopping £50 million from Premier League powerhouse Chelsea. He scored just seven goals over two seasons and then twenty over four.  For the amount of money sent his way, Torres is the worst singing in league history.
